CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Ohio State Buckeyes defeated No. 17 Illinois 34-16 on the road Saturday, extending coach Ryan Day’s winning streak against ranked opponents to eight games, and taking home his first ever Illibuck .
Ohio State’s defense forced three turnovers and held Illinois to just a field goal in the first half, building a 20-3 lead by halftime. The Buckeyes never looked back, sealing the game in the fourth quarter with a 2-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Julian Sayin to wide receiver Jeremiah Smith, which gave them a 34-10 lead.
