ST. PAUL, Minn. — The Minnesota Wild's home rink is no longer called Xcel Energy Center. It is now Grand Casino Arena.
Maybe the name change will be good for UND.
The Fighting Hawks are 1-6 in their last seven games in the downtown St. Paul venue. It is where the Brad Berry era came to an end last March with a loss to Western Michigan in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference semifinals.
UND will return to the building to play St. Thomas at 5:07 p.m. Sunday to complete a two-game series.
UND won the series opener 6-2 on Friday in Ralph Engelstad Arena to open the Dane Jackson era.
"It will be good for our guys to get to play in that kind of environment and a big rink," Jackson said. "But we're just hoping our same fundamentals of what we want to do are there."
