LOUDON COUNTY, Tenn. — The Loudon County Sheriff's Office posted on Facebook Saturday, warning residents about a new scam targeting residents in the community.
Scammers are calling residents pretending to be members of the LCSO and claiming that a family member has been arrested or needs an ankle monitor.
According to LCSO, the scammers may tell you that you need to pay a bond or fee. Some victims have even received follow-up text messages as “friendly reminders” to complete the payment.
The LCSO said that they will never call residents asking for money, gift cards or any kind of payment to bond out a family member. They also said that they will never request payment for an ankle monitor or any court-related matter over the phone.
