LACONIA, N.H. —
A Gilford man has been indicted for allegedly creating a deepfake video by altering what a police officer said in police body camera video, court documents say.
Jaxen Cole, of Gilford, was indicted on two counts of fraudulent use of deepfakes, a class B felony, court documents showed. Cole has pleaded not guilty to both charges.
The indictments allege that in February 2025, Cole posted a deepfake video to his Facebook and Instagram accounts of a video from a Laconia police officer's body camera video in which the officer's voice was "digitally manipulated into saying different things than in the original."
