GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) - Dave McKendry’s mom was diagnosed with dementia two years ago. For he and hundreds of other folks marching in the Alzheimer’s Association of Colorado's "Walk to End Alzheimer’s" march on Saturday morning, a little rain was no match for their passion to find a cure.

“It feels like a big party," says McKendry. "Even with the rain, the conditions, everything, it feels like we've done something good. I mean, it's something big. It's that cure that we know someday is going to happen."

There are 91,000 Coloradans among the 7.4 million Americans living with Alzheimer’s, according to event organizers. They say, it is the sixth-leading cause of death and the only leading disease without a prevention or cure.
