KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - A dog died in a house fire Saturday afternoon in North Knox County.

According to Jeff Bagwell with Rural Metro Fire, crews responded to to the fire in the 6300 block of Christian Springs Drive at around 3:30 p.m.

On the scene, Bagwell said crews found a room on fire. The fire was contained to that room, but the home suffered significant smoke damage.

Nobody was at home at the time of the fire, Bagwell said, adding that one dog died in the fire.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
