COLLEGE PARK, Md. — The Nebraska football team headed for its locker room, but not everyone made it there.

After putting together a fourth-quarter performance worthy of an encore, Nebraska’s players wanted to provide it.

Moments after they’d left the field, the Huskers returned to celebrate with any of their fans who’d stuck around for every snap of a last-second Nebraska victory.

“I went and got up and said, ‘Go back out,’” head coach Matt Rhule said of the postgame scene.

“That was palpable, the way it felt. You get in these moments where it’s like, ‘Oh no, we’re down seven,’ and I just thought our crowd became electric,” Rhule said. “I just have to give a ton of credit to the fans and the crowd that was here.”
