Sealing the deal: Facing third-and-16 from their own 29-yard line with 1:55 to play, the Buffs got a big play to put the game away. Kaidon Salter hit Joseph Williams across the middle for a 38-yard pass down to the Iowa State 33-yard line. That allowed the Buffs to run out the clock.

Turning point: After Iowa State took a 17-14 lead in the third quarter, CU responded with a 52-yard touchdown drive, capped by Salter finding Williams for a 3-yard touchdown. On the ensuing possession, CU’s Tawfiq Byard intercepted Iowa State’s Rocco Becht near the goal line.
