HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. — Five people were hospitalized Saturday afternoon when a helicopter crashed in Huntington Beach, police say.

The Huntington Beach Police Department said two people were pulled from the helicopter and three people on the street were hurt. All five were taken to the hospital "for treatment." The extent of injuries is unknown at this time.

The helicopter crashed near the Hyatt Regency Hotel on the beach. Video posted to social media shows the helicopter hovering over some palm trees, lift up then spin out of control and hit the building.

Further details about the helicopter, why it was in the area and what caused the crash are still unknown.

Roads in the area are closed and police ask people in the area to use "alternative routes for the next few hours."
