BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) - The Southern University football team was the preseason favorite to win the SWAC's West Division title; now, the team is 1-5 after a 45-14 loss to Bethune-Cookman.
The Jaguars started the game strong, with a 71-yard pass from Cam'Ron McCoy to Darren Morris to score the game's first touchdown.
It was all downhill from there. The score would be 38-7 before the Jaguars would score another touchdown.
Trey Holly led the Jaguars with 71 yards rushing. The Jaguars' defense gave up 498 total yards against Bethune-Cookman. The Jaguars' offense finished with just 267 yards.
The Jaguars are also 0-2 in SWAC conference play. They face Prairie View at home next Saturday at 4 p.m.
