LSU football recovered a fumble to give the Tigers the lead early against South Carolina on Saturday night, but the Gamecocks struck back to set up their first scoring drive.

Facing a second-and-goal from the 1-yard line, sophomore Ju'Juan Johnson ran up the middle and came close to the goal line. But South Carolina's redshirt senior defensive lineman Monkell Goodwine jarred the ball loose, and edge rusher Bryan Thomas Jr. recovered in the end zone for a touchback.

On the ensuing drive, the Gamecocks needed just three plays to cover 80 yards, as redshirt freshman Matt Fuller broke through for a 72-yard rushing touchdown.

South Carolina leads LSU early in the second quarter, 7-3.
