NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) - There's a new spot being monitored in the eastern and central tropical Atlantic for possible tropical development.

The National Hurricane Center says that "a tropical wave located several hundred miles southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands continues to produce a large and persistent area of disorganized showers and thunderstorms."

The NHC believes that the environmental conditions are conducive for some system development with the expectation of seeing a tropical depression form next week.

For now, the system is forecasted to continue moving in a west-northwestward to northwestward motion up to 20-mph across the central tropical Atlantic.

Formation chances here for the next 48-hours is 30% and 7-days at 50%.

The above is the only spot that we are monitoring for now
