A "surprise star witness" from Donald Trump's own first administration is set to undermine the DOJ's prosecution of former FBI director James Comey, according to a former prosecutor.
Former federal prosecutor Shan Wu weighed in via a video over the weekend. It is called "Trump DOJ SHOCKED by SURPRISE STAR WITNESS in Comey CASE," Wu explains that, "There is a new star witness" in the James Comey case.
"It's not who you think it might be. It's not some FBI informant, or someone close to him, like a buddy of his who is going to tell all," Wu said. "It's somebody we all thought had gone quietly into the night."
The star witness to whom he is referring is Special Counsel John Durham, who investigated the investigators of the Russian voting interference case at the FBI, on behalf of Trump.
According to Wu, Durham will be a "great witness for Comey."
"As reporting indicates, Durham, who spent all these years examining the origins of the FBI investigation into the Russian interference with the 2016 campaign, told federal prosecutors who were investigating Comey... he could not uncover evidence that would support false statements or obstruction charges against Comey," he then added.
Wu went on to say Durham actually provided "exculpatory" information that could potentially help Comey.
