DELL RAPIDS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - An annual bowling tournament in Dell Rapids is continuing to honor the memory of a boy who was killed in a tragic bike accident three years ago. This weekend’s festivities were bittersweet because this school year would have been a special milestone for him.

It’s been a tough three years since Zander Heathcote lost his life, but this one hurts a little differently.

“He would be graduating this year as a senior,” explained Zander’s mom, Becky Heathcote. “I never thought I would cry at a homecoming parade, but I did. Seeing the senior class float and he should have been there. There’s lots of emotions that go with it.”
