SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - Even though fall just started, it’s not too early to start planning for winter. For some, that may mean finding a winter coat, and they could get just that on Saturday at Falls Park.
Kidz-N-Coats distributed around 1,400 coats Saturday afternoon for those who needed one.
The nonprofit started distributing coats in 2009 and has continued the effort as more and more families lack the means to buy coats.
“It’s honestly hard to see this many people show up and be in need of a coat. But it’s so good to know that they have a good winter coat going into winter, and that they’ll be warm because of this. It’s just also really exciting to see kids get really excited about their new coats. They have this big smile when they’re leaving,” said coordinator Teres
