LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) — The Oct. 11 elections determined the funding for the Bayou Vermilion District and the Lafayette Parish School System.

The Bayou Vermilion District tax renewal passed the vote with 70% saying yes to renew a tax of 0.75 mills.

With the tax renewal passed, Bayou Vermilion District will earn an estimated $2,138,000 will be collected each year for 10 years, beginning in 2027 and ending in 2036 to maintain their current budget.

The Lafayette Parish School System tax renewal passed the vote with 68% saying yes to renew a tax of 7.79 mills.

With the tax renewal passed, The Lafayette Parish School System will be able provide additional support to the public elementary and secondary schools in the District, according to the proposition.
