The days of people moving in to live next to music venues and then forcing them to close over noise complaints may soon be numbered in the City of Fremantle .
The city is looking at how it can balance increasing its population while maintaining its live music and pub venues after owners raised concerns moves to increase residential infill were pushing them out and could kill the heritage port city’s vibe.
Plans by Honky Tonk Blues to expand were threatened earlier this year after neighbours complained about noise.
A handful of nearby residents had asked the council to reject the application, with one suggesting the city shut down the venue.
Its plans were approved but with a sound limit of 85 decibels and other noise mitigation measures.
Noise investigations at Honky Tonk Blues came
