SLIDELL, La. (WGNO) — Republican Randy Fandal has won the race for Slidell Mayor against Republican Bill Borchert.
Fandal won the race with 71.79 percent of the votes while Borchert received 28.21 percent of the votes. Fandal received 3,489 votes while Borchert received 1,371 votes.
According to Randy Fandal's campaign website, he attended Slidell High School and went on to graduate from the Louisiana State Police Acadamy in 1990. He has served for 45 years in law enforcement, working as a patrolman, detective and EMT. He has served as the Chief of Police for Slidell since 2016.
According to Bill Borchert's website, he has been serving as interim mayor after the resignation of former Mayor Greg Cromer.
