BILOXI, Miss. (WLOX) - If you are receiving threatening text messages claiming you owe money to the state of Mississippi, think twice before you act.
The Mississippi Department of Revenue (MDOR) is experiencing a surge in calls with reports of messages demanding payment for outstanding toll charges, fines owed, and unpaid traffic violations.
This is prompting the department to warn everyone not to click or respond to the messages. They are even asking those receiving the messages to delete what has been sent to them.
