When we broke camp last week during our 1955 visit “Gunsmoke” had just premiered on CBS television; in all likelihood, working folks earning minimum wages didn’t get to enjoy Matt/Kitty/Doc/Chester, even though President Dwight D. Eisenhower had raised the U.S. minimum wage … to $1 per hour.

That’s $12.05 nowadays.

Some lucky folks watched NBC’s WSFA-TV where Frank McGee was news director.

The first time Frank’s voice was heard inside the House of Adams Mother had gotten a good scald on a batch of pork chops and served ’em with mashed Irish potatoes/gravy and purple hull peas.
