Nebraska's state climatologist will discuss recent climate change findings, and what they mean for Nebraska, at Lincoln's Unitarian Church on Thursday at 7 p.m.
Dr. Deborah Bathke was a lead author on the 2024 report, "Understanding and Assessing Climate Change: Preparing for Nebraska's Future."
The document discusses challenges and opportunities for Nebraska as the earth continues to warm.
Among the findings are frequent and lengthy heat extremes, more extreme wildfires and more intense rainfall events.
The free event will be hosted by Unitarian Church of Lincoln at 6300 A St.
“As a congregation, we value sustainability and are committed to achieving climate justice,” said Gene Hanlon, chair of the church's Green Sanctuary Committee , in a news release.
