Gleyber Torres is going for surgery after toughing it out all month with a painful hernia. On October 11, insider Cody Stavenhagen took to X to report that the Detroit Tigers second baseman will undergo a procedure to repair a sports hernia on his right side. After a disappointing exit from the playoffs, Tigers fans are unhappy, and there’s no certainty of Torres’ return next season.

Gleyber Torres revealed the injury after Detroit’s 3-2 loss in Game 5. The 28-year-old admitted the pain had been going on through the second half of the season. This even impacted his on-field performance.
