IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) - It’s been 3 months since ICE deported 20-year-old Pascual Pedro of West Liberty to his home country - Guatemala.

Father Guillermo Treviño is still fighting for Pedro to come back- speaking with several lawmakers in Washington D.C.

He said nothing has worked.

“They promise certain things, but I haven’t heard back,” Fr. Treviño said.

Sunday, Father Treviño spoke to this crowd at an immigration forum in Iowa City about his next trip to advocate for immigrants.

Next weekend, he will travel to Rome to talk with Pope Leo.

“The Pope just wants to hear how things are going at the grassroots level throughout the world, and I was one of the ones chosen,” Fr. Treviño said.
