BRISTOL, Conn. — Three years after the deadly ambush that claimed the lives of two Bristol police officers, the department is asking the community to join them in honoring the fallen officers.

On Saturday, October 12, 2025, the Bristol Police Department will privately honor Lt. Dustin DeMonte and Sgt. Alex Hamzy, who were killed in the line of duty exactly three years ago. The department is requesting community members show their support by illuminating blue lights and candles.

“We ask the community to show its support, just as it has in the past, by illuminating your blue lights and candles,” the Bristol Police Department said in a statement.
