PHOENIX (AZFamily) —Phoenix police shot and killed a man who was allegedly armed with a knife and was fighting with a woman at a west Phoenix apartment complex Saturday evening.

Around 8 p.m., officers arrived at an apartment complex at 83rd Avenue and Indian School Road for reports of a fight.

When the police arrived, they reported seeing a man armed with a knife with a woman down on the ground by the apartment building, holding the weapon to the woman’s throat, and that’s when officers demanded that he stop.

Since he refused, at that point, that was when officers shot the suspect, according to Phoenix police spokesperson Phil Krysnky.

After the shooting, police said the woman was taken to safety and the suspect, who has not yet been identified, died from his injuries at the scene.
