QUEEN VALLEY, AZ (AZFamily) — Queen Valley residents have been placed on “SET” status and are urged to prepare for evacuations due to rising creek levels.
County officials said Sunday morning that the Whitlow Creek crossing is flowing significant water and is closed. An increase in water flow is expected on roads during heavy rains throughout the day.
At 11:40 a.m., the National Weather Service activated a flash flood warning for Queen Valley and surrounding places, including Apache Junction, Gold Canyon and Florence Junction.
Flooding has closed U.S. 60 east of Queen Valley, near Miami, after thunderstorms passed through the region and are expected to continue on Sunday. Flood warnings are also in effect in that portion of Gila County.
