KENT COUNTY, MI - After a monthslong project to replace outdated equipment, a Plainfield Township park’s new playground is officially open.
The D.W. Richardson Park playground, featuring slides, a climbing wall, lookout area and a swing set opened Friday, Oct. 10, the township announced in its newsletter.
The Kent County park , at 5255 Grand River Dr NE, also has three baseball diamonds, shuffleboard, basketball courts and a pavilion. It’s open daily from 8 a.m. to dusk.
The project was approved in March by the Plainfield Township Board of Trustees at a total cost of $135,926. The cost of the new equipment was factored into the township’s budget for the year.
The new equipment replaced the existing play structure and swing set, which were installed 31 years ago.
