AUSTIN (KXAN) -- Austin police said a driver suffered a gunshot wound to the neck after being pursued by an officer who witnessed a drive-by shooting. APD confirmed Sunday that one person has been detained and charged with deadly conduct.

Austin PD said they were not able to release information about the person being charged; if they were the same person who was shot during the incident.

It happened near North Creek Drive and East Rundberg Lane just before 1 a.m. Sunday.

Austin Chief of Police Lisa Davis said it started when an officer said they witnessed a drive-by shooting. The officer followed a vehicle to Parkfield Drive, APD Chief Lisa Davis said during an early-morning press briefing.
