PHOENIX — Thunderstorms and rain continued to affect parts of the Valley on Sunday morning after overnight storms blanketed the metro Phoenix area.

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Phoenix showed weather activity moving northeast through the Valley and described the thunderstorms as having “very heavy” rainfall.

The weather authority issued a flash flood warning for Maricopa County and Pinal County until 9:15 a.m. It also put out flood warnings for Queen Creek and Chandler Heights until 10:45 a.m.

There were flood warnings earlier in the morning for specific parts of the Valley including Buckeye, Chandler, Anthem, Mesa, Tempe and Gilbert.

NWS warned motorists to stay off of flooded roadways.
