HINTON, Iowa — A duo of Hinton High School volleyball players hit milestones a few days ago, but finally got to celebrate those achievements with the home crowd.

During the East High Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 27, the Blackhawks’ Bailey Boeve surpassed 1,000 career kills and teammate Karlyn Kovarna notched career kill No. 500.

Since then, the Class 2A No. 3-ranked Blackhawks beat Gehlen Catholic on the road before returning to Hinton High School to sweep West Sioux in three sets (25-6, 25-6, 25-4) to remain undefeated in War Eagle Conference play with two matches left in WEC play.

A two-time all-state Elite Team selection, hitting 1,000 kills was always something on Boeve’s radar, and now another milestone to check off the career docket.
