ALLEN PARK — If the Detroit Lions gave Alim McNeill the green light to suit up Sunday night, he’d be more than ready.

The stout defender has done everything in his power from a health and conditioning standpoint to make his season debut earlier than expected. But for now, he’ll have to wait. The Lions have decided to keep McNeill sidelined for their Week 6 Sunday Night Football showdown against the Kansas City Chiefs.

It’ll mark the second straight week the Lions have held McNeill out after activating his 21-day practice window -- a decision that says more about the team’s long-term plan than his current condition.
