STAMFORD, Conn. — Stamford police are investigating a serious motor vehicle collision that occurred early Sunday morning.

The crash happened around 4:37 a.m. in front of 2635 Long Ridge Road.

According to police, a 2016 Volkswagen SUV was heading north when a 2016 Nissan SUV, which had been turning around in a parking lot, pulled out and tried to head south. The two vehicles collided, causing severe damage to both.

The 39-year-old driver of the Nissan, a Norwalk resident, suffered serious injuries and had to be extricated from the vehicle.

The driver, along with a 24-year-old Stamford resident and a 30-year-old Stamford passenger in the Volkswagen, were all transported to Stamford Hospital. While the Nissan driver’s injuries are considered life-threatening, the others' are not.
