ASHLAND, N.H. —

A driver is dead after a vehicle went off the road, crashed and caught fire early Sunday, state police said.

New Hampshire State Police said around 2:45 a.m., dispatch got a report of a vehicle on fire along the tree line about a mile south of Exit 24 on Interstate 93.

When troopers got there, they found the vehicle fully engulfed in flames, state police said.

The driver was going south on I-93 and for reasons that remain under investigation, went off the right side of the road, crashed and caught fire, state police said. The driver was found dead at the scene and no one else was in the vehicle.

The driver's identity has not been released.
