NEW YORK (PIX11) --- Nassau County is under a state of emergency as Long Island braces for a nor'easter bringing high winds and coastal flooding on Sunday.
Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman issued the order due to potential flooding from high waves from surrounding waterways, officials said.
"Residents in flood-prone areas should stay off the roads, charge phones and flashlights, and ensure they have the necessary supplies to remain safely in place for an extended period," according to a spokesperson for Blakeman.
Widespread coastal flooding is expected for the south shore bays of Nassau and Suffolk counties during high tide on Sunday into Monday, according to the National Weather Service.
