An original adaptation of All Creatures Great and Small is now available to watch for free.

While the beloved period drama has returned for a sixth season with Nicholas Ralph in the leading role of James Herriot, the stories of the veterinary surgeon were once told in a 1975 film.

Starring Simon Ward and Anthony Hopkins as James and Siegfried Farnon , it told the story of James arriving in Yorkshire to be an assistant to Siegfried’s practice in the 1930s.

As he gets to grips with country life, the young vet begins a romance with farmer’s daughter Helen Alderson, who was played by Lisa Harrow.
