Sasquatch, or, at least, the legendary creature’s likeness, was spotted in Running Springs on Saturday, Oct. 11.
He handed out stickers to kids and posed for photos with guests at the first Bigfoot Festival.
The event celebrated the hairy forest-dweller with folklore, food, music and fun activities such as a Bigfoot costume contest and a “calling contest.”
Originally planned for Green Valley Lake, the festival moved to the Running Springs Farmers Market after permitting issues, according to Alexandra Lim, one of the event coordinators.
Lim said that while there are people in the mountain community who are enthusiastic about the myth of Bigfoot — some say they have heard strange noises in the wooded areas or have captured blurry photos of the rumored mountain bipedal — the event started
