BOURNE, Mass. —

A multi-car crash has shut down the Bourne Bridge in both directions, the town's police department announced Sunday.

Just after 1 p.m. , Massachusetts State Police responded to the bridge for a report of a crash involving several cars.

A driver of one of the cars became entrapped during the crash and was taken to St. Luke's Hospital with serious injuries.

The bridge will remain shut down for several hours while state police investigate the crash.

MassDOT is advising drivers to seek alternate routes and avoid the bridge.
