Vancouver runner Louis Maruk has claimed the top spot at Sunday’s Royal Victoria Marathon, in a time of 2:24:29.

He was followed by Lethbridge’s Kip Kangogo at 2:25:04 and Burnaby’s Christopher Chan at 2:26:22, according to the RVM’s official results.

Thousands of runners took to the streets of Victoria, with all events – marathon, half marathon, 8km and 5km – sold out prior to race Oct. 12.

The top 3 full marathon finishers for women

The first woman to cross the marathon finish line was Cassandra De Winter from Lethbridge, with a time of 2:39:52, followed by Vancouver’s Kat Drew at 2:44:47 and Andrea Lee of North Vancouver with a time of 2:47:22.

The top 3 half marathon finishers for women

Calgary’s Claire Sumner took the top spot in the 21.1km race, with a time of 1:15:13, followed
