CLERMONT, Ky. —

Kentucky American Indian Resource & Community Center (KAIRCC) kicks off a two-day celebration for Indigenous Peoples’ Day at Bernheim Forest and Arboretum.

The second Monday in October is Indigenous Peoples’ Day, a celebration of America’s Indigenous peoples, commemorating and honoring their history and culture.

To celebrate, KAIRCC held a Traditional Pow Wow, a gathering filled with dancing, singing, drumming, and cultural pride, on Sunday morning. There was also a ceremonial opening including a parade of dancers, veterans, elders, and dignitaries.

Native artists, craft vendors, and food vendors were also in attendance. The event also welcomed all dancers and was led by Host Drum Istayapi, MC Roger Campbell, Head Veteran Robin Bowen, and AD Randy Medrano.
