PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) -- One man has been hospitalized with a life-threatening gunshot wound to the head after a Sunday afternoon shooting in South Peoria.

At approximately 1:30 p.m., officers with the Peoria Police Department were called to a 15-round report from the ShotSpotter gunfire detection system at the 2300 block of West Antoinette Street, which is near the intersection of South Westmoreland Avenue, said police spokeswoman Semone Roth.

When officers arrived, they found a man had a gunshot wound to his head and was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries, Roth said.

She said as of 2:55 p.m. officers are still at the scene conducting their investigation.

There is no suspect information and no arrests have been made public.
