(WTRF) -- From a new COVID variant making the rounds to a local park gaining attention and major retailers gearing up for the holiday rush, here’s a look back at this week’s biggest headlines.

Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine is putting school bus safety in the spotlight, announcing a new $10 million grant program aimed at helping districts across Ohio.

The Ohio School Bus Safety Grant Program will give schools the chance to upgrade safety features on existing buses or add new enhancements to ones just hitting the road.

The initiative comes after a statewide working group took a closer look at transportation safety. The group found there’s still room to make school buses even safer.

There’s another COVID-19 variant spreading called Stratus.

It’s known for causing a stubborn, dry cough.
