The 49ers lost another star defender to what appears to be a serious injury on Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Raymond James Stadium.

Star linebacker Fred Warner sustained a right ankle injury midway through the first quarter and the 49ers quickly ruled him out.

Warner was carted to the locker room with an air cast on his lower right leg.

Warner appeared to have his right ankle rolled up on by teammate Ji'Ayir Brown.

If Warner's injury is confirmed to be as serious as it appears, he would join edge rusher Nick Bosa as a 49ers star who will miss most, if not all, of the 2025 NFL season.
