The Pennsylvania Science Teachers Association made its first-ever visit to Erie this weekend.
The organization is dedicated to improving science education across the commonwealth.
In a partnership with IU5, dozens of local teachers were scheduled to take part in the conference while it's in town.
Their president, Andy Walton, told us why they are excited to be in Erie for this year's conference.
Walton said, "We've really kind of gotten ourselves entrenched in the local community. We have a sailboat ride that went out this morning, another one this evening. We had a group go out to a hydroponics location, a planetarium. So a lot of local colleges, organizations have found out we were going to be here, and we're super excited to get teachers to see the things that Erie has to offer."
