LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - A Floyd County Sheriff’s Deputy is being honored for his quick thinking and heroic actions at Harvest Homecoming.
Sheriff Steve Bush said that Friday afternoon, Officer Whelan was patrolling the Harvest Homecoming event area when he saw a woman collapse.
She was unconscious and unresponsive, which prompted Whelan to start performing CPR until medical personnel could arrive at the scene. The woman was taken to Baptist Floyd Hospital, where medical teams continued life-saving treatment, and she is expected to make a full recovery.
Doctors later credited Officer Whelan’s quick response and treatment as a critical factor in saving the woman’s life.
