With a 53-yard touchdown grab on the books already, DeMario Douglas thought he’d added a second explosive scoring play.

Late in the first quarter at the Superdome, the Patriots wideout got behind the Saints secondary again, and Drake Maye hit Douglas for what appeared to be a 61-yard touchdown. However, there was a late flag thrown, and Stefon Diggs was penalized for a phantom offensive interference well away from the play.

“I didn’t even know at first,” said Douglas, who was already on the sideline. ”Then they were like, ‘Flag.’ I was like, ‘Man.’“

New England didn’t spiral after that though. They picked up a fortuitous penalty call of their own on the next snap, and later on the drive, Maye found Kayshon Boutte for a 25-yard touchdown.
