WASHINGTON COUNTY, ARKANSAS, Ark. — The Washington County Sheriff's Office (WCSO) reported a stray emu on the loose near Fayetteville and was seeking the public's help in getting it home.
A Facebook post from WCSO said the emu was found on Hunt Lane, but that a county animal officer determined it could have come from Ed Edwards Road or Black Oak Road.
WCSO later said the owners were identified and were trying to capture it but unable to.
"The owners were unable to capture the emu, so it is still on the loose! If you happen to see it, please call the sheriff’s office so we can notify the owners," WCSO said.
In a final update from the sheriff's office, officials said the emu had been captured.
