It’s beginning to look a lot like winter on Mount Washington Alpine Resort, as some of the first flakes of the season are falling on the mid-Island resort Sunday.

As of 2 p.m. Oct. 12, light snow has begun falling as the temperature is hovering around -1C. A light dusting is accumulating on the ground as visible from Alpine Lodge and the Tube Park web cameras.

While opening day is still a least more than a month away, the overnight lows are dipping down to -3C overnight, according to The Weather Network. However, the network is also predicting the temperatures to rise to 6C on Thanksgiving Monday, so the flurries are likely to be a short-lived event.

Last year, the resort had its earliest opening in eight years thanks to an unusual amount of November snowfall.
