BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) -- UAB announced the firing of head football coach Trent Dilfer Sunday.

The Blazers were 9-21 overall with a 6-14 record in conference play under Dilfer. UAB finished 0-15 on the road during his tenure. In the 2025 season, UAB has lost its last three games by at least three possessions and sit at 2-4 on the season. The Blazers are 0-3 in American Athletic Conference play, tied with Tulsa and Charlotte at the bottom of the standings.

UAB looks to bounce back from a loss to Florida Atlantic Saturday, 53-33. Blazers will host No. 22 Memphis at 3 p.m. Saturday on ESPN2. Alex Mortensen will serve as interim head coach.
