The first widespread, accumulating snow of the season could hit Washington’s mountain ranges through Monday, forecasts show.

Some of the lower passes and foothills of the Cascade Mountains won’t see much, if any, snow, but there could be a few inches of snow at high elevation after Sunday.

Stevens Pass is expected to get between 2 and 4 inches by Monday morning, according to the National Weather Service. The North Cascades, as well as areas around Mount Rainier above 5,000 feet, are expected to get even more snow.

The snow level could fall to 3,500 feet.

Drivers on Interstate 90 crossing Snoqualmie Pass at the right time may see some flakes, but it’ll be mostly rain, keeping most of the snow from sticking and accumulating.
