While Monday will mark the federal holiday of Columbus Day, a rising number of states now consider it as Indigenous People's Day.

Columbus Day has historically been on the second Sunday of October, but efforts to recognize Indigenous People's Day as a celebration of native people's contributions have gained traction in recent years.

Because of the dueling holidays, disruptions are possible on everything from mail service to trash pickup. And that's not all that could be affected.

Government offices, the stock market and banks will be, too.
